Matthew's roles include Sarastro (Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, Arizona Opera, Nashville Opera), Don Bartolo (Staatsoper Stuttgart, Minnesota Opera, Opera San Jose), and the King in Aida (Baltimore Symphony, Opera Maine). Other engagements include the Nederlandse Reisopera, Oper Leipzig, Glyndebourne Festival, Santa Fe Opera, and nearly a dozen productions at the Metropolitan Opera, where he made his debut as the Jailor in Tosca. Matthew is also a celebrated recitalist and cabaret singer of the American Songbook.
